Acquisition Card eLearning Course

Objectives

This course provides participants with the necessary knowledge to obtain and maintain their delegated authority and their responsibilities for the procurement of goods and services in accordance with the objectives of the Government Contracting Policy. Emphasis is placed on Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED)'s policies and procedures and the creation of card documents in the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS).
At the end of the course, participants will:

  • achieve value for money in acquiring materiel and understand the importance of accountability
  • understand the risks and liabilities when exercising delegated authorities
  • exercise delegated authority effectively
  • prepare quality card documents and reports

Target Audience

This course is designed for both future Cardholders who will receive the delegated authority for Contract Administration and Purchasing activities and for designated employees that create card document in IFMS.

Prerequisite

The Green Procurement Course (C215) and the Aboriginal Considerations in Procurement (C223) are mandatory for all Cardholders. Offered by the Canada School of Public Service; this course is free of charge and can be accessed via the employee's CSPS MyAccount. A proof of completion of the Green Procurement course and the eLearning Acquisition Card Policy Training will be required before receiving the delegated contracting authority. Once this required policy training has been completed along with the CSPS Green Procurement (C215) and Aboriginal Considerations in Procurement (C223) online courses we ask that the participant contact the CMS Contracting Authority Request / Demande de délégation contractuelle SGI (IC) to obtain the mandatory testing material.

Please note: a passing grade of 80% must be obtained before the delegation is granted. Once the required passing grade has been achieved, the CMS Contracting Authority group will guide the participant in the next steps to acquire the acquisition card.
